Nutrition for College Students

Online Infographic | Information Design Project

Overview

This project focused on designing an online infographic that translates credible nutrition research into a clear, approachable format for college students. The goal was to make practical health information easy to scan, actionable, and realistic for students with limited time and budgets.

Problem

Nutrition advice for college students is often:

  • Overwhelming or overly technical

  • Unrealistic for tight budgets and busy schedules

  • Text-heavy and difficult to retain

  • Lacking clear, actionable takeaways

The challenge was to simplify research-backed information without losing credibility, while designing for short attention spans and digital sharing.

Research & Design Process

I combined research-driven content development with visual hierarchy and layout exploration to transform complex information into a clear visual narrative.

  • Conducted topic research using credible health sources (CDC, USDA, Harvard School of Public Health)

  • Defined key messages and structured a clear content narrative

  • Analyzed effective infographic design patterns and hierarchy systems

  • Sketched layout concepts and early digital compositions

  • Developed icon-based visual system to reduce text density

  • Built grid-based layout in Figma to guide flow and readability

  • Iterated based on feedback to refine spacing, hierarchy, and clarity

  • Added supporting statistics and strengthened visual closure
