Beauty is …
For this exercise, I created a poster that visually communicates my personal definition of beauty. The project challenged me to combine imagery, typography, and design principles to convey a clear, cohesive message to college students. I began by defining the problem: what message I wanted to communicate, how I wanted my audience to feel, and the tone that would best express my ideas.
Next, I brainstormed concepts using keywords, mind maps, and thumbnail sketches, producing over ten layout ideas. I researched existing designs to understand effective uses of imagery, composition, texture, color, and typography. From there, I selected my strongest concepts and developed three preliminary digital compositions with accompanying inspiration boards, iterating on each based on visual hierarchy, gestalt principles, and aesthetic balance.
After feedback on low-fidelity design and refining my approach, I finalized my poster, carefully manipulating imagery to align with my definition of beauty while ensuring harmony between text and visuals. The final design highlights positive and negative space, scale, color relationships, and typographic integration to create a compelling, visually engaging poster.
This project allowed me to explore the intersection of concept, imagery, and design execution while refining my ability to translate abstract ideas into visually impactful compositions.
